Joe Kimsey
Banjo
Hailing from Canton, Georgia, Joe Kimsey brings both musical excellence and technical expertise to the band. A graduate of South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, one of the first schools in the nation to offer a degree in country and bluegrass music, Joe earned his degree in Music and Recording Technology. While there, he refined his banjo skills under the influence of bluegrass greats Stuart Duncan and Mike Bub.
Before pursuing music full-time, Joe served eight years in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, working as a crew chief on KC-10 Extender tanker and cargo aircraft. Following his military service, he continued using his technical abilities as a sound engineer, installing and maintaining sound systems for some of the largest churches in the country.
Joe has toured extensively across the United States, performing with groups such as The Hendricks Family of Tennessee, Tom Uhr & the Shady Grove Ramblers of Texas, and Georgia-based bands Fontana Sunset and Magnolia Express. Today, he travels and performs with the Chuck Nation Band, while also enjoying time in the studio recording and teaching banjo to the next generation of pickers.
